Gagea occurs as big genus of spring flowers in the Liliaceae found in Europe and western Asia. These are known as fallowing a English naturalist Sir Thomas Gage. It were originally described when coinage of Ornithogalum, which, together with a common yellow colour of a flowers, explains the English name yellow Star-of-Bethlehem. A usual mintage around Europe is Gagea lutea, which grows within dampish deciduous woodland.
